Nancy C. (Crowl) Morton, 78 of Girard, passed away on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
She was born, August 11, 1938 in North Girard (now Lake City), a daughter of the late Lewis and June (Weyneth) Crowl.
Nancy graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1957, and was Captain of the Yellowjacket Cheerleading Squad that year. Following high school she attended Flight Attendant School and was a Hostess for the airline industry for a time. She later in life attended and graduated from J.H. Thompson Beauty Academy and later worked as a Hairstylist in Lake City and Fairview.
She performed many years with the "Sweet Adeline's", a singing group in Erie who performed throughout the area. She loved music throughout her life as well as playing the organ and piano at her home. Her family fondly remembers her ability as a great cook.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey P. Morton; her step father, Francis "Mac" McPhaden; a brother, Terry Crowl 1979.
Her family includes her husband, James P. Morton, whom she married, November 15, 1958 in Girard; two sons, Stephen B. Morton (Jena) of Fairview; David S. Morton and his partner Mark Nowak of Erie; a granddaughter, Jewell Morton of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday from 6 pm to 8pm at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend Services there on Tuesday at 10 AM with Rev. Nicola Vitiello, Pastor of the Girard Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
