Laura Mae Bax, 97 formerly of Girard, passed away on Friday February 23, 2018 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
Laura was born on October 23, 1920 in Cranesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Roscoe Brooks and Myrtle Jones Brooks.
Born and raised in Cranesville, she later attended and graduated from Edinboro High School in 1938. Laura then went on to work at the Visco's Silk Co. in Meadville, Pa. She lived in Cleveland with her husband for a time, returning to Cranesville while Glenn was serving in the Army overseas. Upon His return they moved to Girard where she worked at Girard Model Works from 1953-1968. She has been a resident of Girard since then.
She was a long-time member of the Girard United Methodist Church as well as a member of Naomi's Circle at Church, United Methodist Women, and the 55'ers Club. She enjoyed yard work and gardening. She had a kind and gentle spirit and will be remembered as a beautiful lady who loved the Lord. She spent her last days as she lived her life, praising God and thanking him for her blessings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn R. Bax in 1986; her son Dennis G. Bax in 2005; brothers; Carl H. Brooks, Wilson B. Brooks and Clarence H. Brooks; and sisters, Lucille Nelson and Sarah Gregor. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 pm to the time of service at 6 pm at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard with Rev. Brock Beveridge officiating.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wesbury Grace Nursing Home. Their loving care was a blessing to Laura and the family.
