John M. Fies

John M. Fies, 66 of Girard, died at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
  
He was born on December 29, 1951 to the late Robert and Ruth (Slesser) Fies in Albion, PA. John graduated from Northwestern High School in 1970 and also studied welding at Vo-Tech.  After graduation he worked at Marx Toys in Girard in the foundry and later at Uricks Foundry in Erie.  John also worked at Union Carbide but most recently had worked for Fairview Evergreen in every aspect of the business, retiring in 2016 after 44 years of service. 

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed collecting baseball cards.  John owned a 1964 Ford Galaxy 500 when he was younger and he finally was able to own another one - dream fulfilled. 
  
John is survived by his wife, Shelby (Williams) Fies, whom he married on July 31, 1971; a daughter, Tina M. White (David, II); son, John M. Fies, Jr. (Tracy); sisters, Karen E. Smith, Cathy Garlich, Ruth A. Fies, and Suehannah Fies; brothers, Robert "Bob" Fies, Mark Fies, David Fies (Karla), and Paul Fies (Paige); grandchildren, Jordyn M. Rathburn and Brianna L. Fies; step grandchildren, Bryan Olesky, Issabella White, Abbigail White also several nieces, nephews and cousins. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Jeffery Allen Fies, sisters, Beverly Fies and Margaret Fuller, and a brother in infancy. 
   
A Memorial Service will be held on at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Albion, PA, on Saturday March 24, 2018 at 11 a.m with Rev. R Blaine Jorg, officiating, with a luncheon following at the church.
  
Burial will take place in the Girard Cemetery.
