James C. Wood, 54 of Girard and formerly of Hico, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 19, 2016.

He was born in Montgomery, WV, June 9, 1961, a son of Mary "Kathryn" (Grimmet) Wood of Ansted, WV and the late Wilmont Wood.

Jim began his working career in the lumber mills of West Virgina; he also worked construction there and various states, moving to the Girard area in 2003. He was currently employed by Eriez Magnetics where he was a HI-VI Assembler.

He enjoyed playing horseshoes and spending time with his grandchildren.

James will be greatly missed by his family, which in addition to his mother, includes his wife, Shelly (McIntyre) Wood, whom he married May 13, 1993 in Cadillac, MI; two daughters, Cassandra Wood of Girard, Pamela Robertson (James) of Lancaster, PA; a son, James D. Wood (Aleasha) of Girard; four sisters, Terri Hurley (Chuck) of Ansted, WV, Patti Robertson (Larry) of Hico, WV, Billie Crookshanks (Ira) of Athens WV, Emma Christine "Chris" Zimmerman (Rick) of Hico, WV; two brothers, Lewis Wood (Joyce) of Hico, WV, "Bubba" Wood (Paulette) of Ansted, WV; three granddaughters; two grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 5PM to the time of a funeral service at 7PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.

Final calling hours and services will be held at the Wallace &Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted WV.

Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
