Elizabeth A. "Betti" Cicero, 63, of Girard entered the welcoming arms of the Lord on Thursday April 6, 2017. She was born March 20, 1954 in Titusville, Pa., a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Frances (Zdarko) Lauer.

Betti graduated from Titusville High School in 1972 and from Gannon College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. She began her working career in Yokosuka, Japan, where she was a purchasing agent for the Base Exchange. She returned to the Erie area and settled in Girard in 1982, where she has resided since. Locally she was employed at EMSCO, PNC Bank, GE Supply, and was secretary for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepbrother, Jack Howe. Betti will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Joseph "Deacon Joe" R. Cicero, who she married July 10, 1976 in Erie; also by two daughters, Rachel Childs (Brian), Rebecca Mountain (William) "Butch"; three sons, Captain Eric Cicero USAF (Svetlana), Raymond Cicero (Sarah), Joseph "Joey" Cicero (Megan); a sister, Catherine Barron (Douglas); her beloved grandchildren, David, Chloe, Alex, Andrew, Eloise, Grace, Abigail, Amelia and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

"She watches over the affairs of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband, too, praises her: Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all (Proverbs 10: 10-31)."

Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main Street East, Girard. A prayer service will be held there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Miller as celebrant.

Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Girard. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Sister Parish in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, in care of St. John the Evangelist Church.
