Duane M. English, 67 of Girard, died suddenly on Thursday December 1, 2016 at his home.

He was born in Erie, January 30, 1949, son of the late Benjamin and Doris (Platz) English.

Duane graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1966. He later received his Accounting Degree and worked as Assistant County Controller for Erie County for many years. He also worked with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission for 42 years as a Deputy Waterway Patrolman. Duane loved deer hunting and fishing and belonged to the Sons of the American Legion at Girard's Post#494, also the Elk Valley Sportsman Asociation, The PA Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

His family includes, a sister, Darlene Rudd of Girard; a nephew, Gary L. Rudd (Michelle) of Curtice, OH; a great niece, Holly N. Rudd and a cousin, Debbie Somppi of Conneaut, OH.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 10AM.

Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
