David W. Persons, 72 of Fairview passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 18, 2017 at UPMC Hamot.
 He was born March 19, 1945, a son of the late Victor O. and Janet (Bickel) Persons.  He graduated from Union City High School in 1963.  Following high school he worked at various manufacturing facilities including Cyclops in Titusville and as a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local #66. He drove trucks for various companies and most recently had been employed by Castle Metals in Cleveland, OH.  Dave enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard and served there in the infantry.
  Dave was a member of Orville Frank American Legion Post # 742 in Fairview. He enjoyed NASCAR, loved going to races, and watching the Steelers and Pirates games.
  David was also preceded in death by a sister Vickie Persons in infancy. 
 He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife Sharon (Klins) Persons whom he married on May 24, 1991.  Also survived by a step daughter Lora L. (Brian) Hughson of Millcreek; son Tyler Persons of St. Cloud, FL; sister,  Debra J. Devoe of Hardwick, VT; grandchildren, Victor Persons and Matthew Persons; step grandchildren Michael Hughson and Emma Hughson and several nieces and nephews.
 Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. to the time of a service at 7 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East Girard.
