Charles C. "Charlie" McClelland, 84 of Girard, died, Friday May 12, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 2, 1932 in Girard, the son of the late Charles and Louella (Horner) McClelland.
 Charles attended the Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard. Following high school he was inducted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was deployed to Korea, serving with K Company, 34th Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; the Korean Service Medal; the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the military he returned to Girard. Most recently he had been employed at ESAB in Ashtabula, as a Machine Operator, retiring from there in 1995 following many years with the company.
 He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494 in Girard, the Fairview American Legion Post #742; The Tri-boro Archery Club; a volunteer firefighter at A.F. Dobler Hose Co. and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. As a Steelers fan, Charlie thought Terry Bradshaw was the greatest Quarterback EVER.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen E. McClelland in infancy; a sister, Sara Gilmore and two half brothers, John "Bud" Morris and Alvin Morris.
 He will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his Wife, Eleanor (Kuzma) McClelland, whom he married July 1, 1967 in Albion; two daughters, Patricia A. “Patty” Smykowski (John) of Fairview; Mary F. Damas (Michael) of Canonsburg, PA; a son, John C. McClelland of Girard, PA; Three Granddaughters, Lindsay Smykowski, Kelsey McClelland, Kaylee McClelland, a Grandson, Nathan Smykowski, several nieces, nephews and his beloved granddog, "Boomer".
 There will be no calling hours observed and services will be held privately by the family.
 Burial with be in St. John Cemetery, Girard with full military honors.
