Brook R. Tolbert, 45, of Girard and formerly of Fayettville, PA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following a courageous battle with cancer.
 He was born May 22, 1972, in Chambersburg, the son of Richard L. and Verity R. (Houser) Tolbert of Chambersburg.
 Brook graduated from the Chambersburg Area High School in 1990. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a Sergeant, and Crew Chief, stationed at New River Air Station and Quantico aboard a Ch-46 helicopter. He later became a Crew Chief aboard “Marine Corps 1”, during President Clinton’s administration. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Letter of Appreciation, Good Conduct Medal, the Rifle Expert Badge (3rd Awd.), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2nd Awd.) and Pistol Expert Badge.  
 Following his honorable discharge in 1995, He returned to the Chambersburg area and later graduated from Shippensburg University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geo-Environmental Science. Brook began working with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission in 1999, following graduation from the HR Stackhouse School of Fisheries and Watercraft Safety in Bellfonte and also the State Police Southwest Training Center in Washington, PA. He began his first assignment as a Waterways Conservation Officer in Luzerne County, later being transferred to Western Erie County and promoted to Sergeant in 2016.
 He was an active member of the Girard United Methodist Church, where he was active on many committees, including, Board of Trustees, and Church Council, also a member of the Lake Erie Lodge #347, F & AM, Girard; the Girard American Legion Post #494, was a National Rifle Association firearms instructor; a Trustee of the F.O.P #114 Fish and Game Officers Lodge; a member of the “Red Star Hunting Camp” in Fayetteville, PA and a proud member of the “Knob Hill Gang.”
 He will be greatly missed by his family, which in addition to his parents, include his wife, Jennifer R. (Darr) Tolbert, whom he married July 7, 2006 in Girard; his two sons, Jacob R. and Alex E. Tolbert, his mother in law, Joyce M. Darr and Rebecca Collister; his aunt, Frances “Frankie” Houser and uncle, Raymond “Chuck” Houser (Cathy).
 Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc. 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be conducted at the Girard United Methodist Church, 48 East Main St., Girard on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Brock Beveridge officiating.
 Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery with full military honors.
