Barbara J. (Trayer) Peterson, known to many as (Nan), of Erie, passed away Thursday January 4, 2018 at LECOM at Presque Isle where she received exceptional comfort care from the staff of LECOM Hospice and Dr. John Ferritti. 
 She was born in Jefferson Co. PA, Oct. 16 1928, a daughter of the late Frank and Alberta (Shick) Trayer.
 In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Peterson, a son, Robert Peterson II and a daughter, Sharon Pecorella; two sisters, Joanne Dinger and Shirley Rimel and a brother Ronald D. Trayer.
 She is survived by two sons, Bart Peterson (Sue), Bill Peterson (Julie); and a caring daughter in law, Susan Peterson, and a faithful son in law, Paul Pecorella and a devoted Sister in law, Bonnie Trayer; nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
 Barbara established the Occupational Therapy Department at Erie Co. Hospital, (Now Pleasant Ridge Manor). Barbara received her education at Cowanshannock Valley, John J. Kane Hospital in Pittsburgh and Occupational Therapy Department at the Erie VAMC, under the direction of Dorothy Livingston OTR. Additional training, Harmerville Rehab Center in Johnstown. She was also employed by the Gertrude Barber Center in Girard. She enjoyed her winter's with her husband and friends in Manzanello, Mexico and later in Punta Gorda, FL. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed babysitting grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sports events. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing Gin with Paul, hoping to win.
 No calling hours will be observed.
  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
